How to choose the best laminate flooring

If you haven't looked at laminate flooring lately, you'll be in for a pleasant surprise because the laminate of today is both beautiful and practical. An affordable way to add style to your home, you can get it in a wide variety of designs, including realistic wood looks with textures; stone mimics like marble, granite, travertine, and more; and tile looks that come in encaustic and filigree patterns. It works in any decor, is durable and fade-resistant, and, depending on the quality, and when installed and taken care of properly, it can last 25 years or longer.

Laminate thickness matters

A more robust surface has increased durability, longevity is quieter, and hides subfloor imperfections. Although there is a range of thicknesses, if possible, choose 10-mm or even 12-mm. That will give you a high-quality, authentic feel of a hard surface, significant if you choose laminate wood flooring.

Examine style

Laminate is a multi-layered product, and one of those is the printed design sheet. High-quality laminate should have clear and vibrant images, with knots, swirls, grains, and veining variations; images should have depth, dimension, and textured features, all created with micro beveling and embossing. This product follows the trends and is available in an almost unlimited number of colors and patterns and can also be cut into planks to mimic hardwood boards or squares for stone and tile echoes. Many feel the extra seams add to the realism.

Extreme durability

This flooring is suitable for heavily trafficked floors with a top, strong, clear, aluminum oxide wear layer that protects the floor from scratches, scuffs, dents, and sun fading. While cores come in various materials, the best is HDF (high-density fiberboard) which is stable and more water-resistant. Always try to buy the best your budget will allow.

We know you all lead busy lives with little time to scrub floors, and this requires daily sweeping and periodic mopping. However, installation can also be simple, especially when it's a floating floor. Here, the pieces click together, mat, and then hover over the subfloor without nails or glue. It can be placed over most subfloors, including concrete, and is compatible with radiant underfloor heating systems; always check with the flooring expert to be sure you select the best version.
